In the fall of 2013 we received a guided tour of the very fascinating process of building some of the world’s finest yachts. The Hinckley Company was founded in Southwest Harbor, Maine in 1928. These yachts are built today with the same highest quality hallmark that made them an established name in handcrafted yachts nearly 100 years ago. Originally only sailing yachts, still made, but now also the tradition is there too with their fabled jet-drive motor boats. Today’s sailing and motor yachts add to the classic handcrafted tradition the latest in technology and computer-design engineering and manufacturing techniques. As a former Hinckley employee, Liz arranged for a tour. As Mt Desert Island Maine wedding photographers, we appreciated the chance to see these beautiful boats as an art form.
